NJG is looking for an Associate Editor
NJG has a vacancy on its editorial team for an Associate Editor with expertise in tectonics and geophysics, or in related quantitative fields such as geomodelling or computational geosciences.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- holds a PhD in a relevant geoscience discipline;
- is an active and experienced scientific author;
- is an active member of the Dutch geoscientific community;
- has a strong professional network for the solicitation of reviewers.
Role
After manuscripts are assigned by the Editor-in-Chief, the Associate Editor guides them through the editorial workflow, ensuring that the Author Guidelines and Journal Policies are followed. This includes:
- assessing whether a manuscript is suitable for peer review;
- organizing one or two rounds of peer review, as appropriate;
- making independent recommendations regarding revision, acceptance, or rejection, after which accepted manuscripts enter production; and
- consulting with the Editor-in-Chief when necessary.
Conditions
- In addition to their editorial duties, Associate Editors are expected to participate in monthly editorial team meetings.
- Based on experience, the expected workload is approximately 8 hours per month.
- The editorial process is facilitated by an easy-to-use journal management and publishing platform.
- NJG editorial positions are voluntary and unpaid.
