Abstract
During the Staring Memorial Symposium 'Sea level and science fiction' held in Amsterdam on October 22, 1997, the President of the Royal Netherlands Geological and Mining Society, Dr E.C. Kosters, presented the Van Waterschoot van der Gracht Medal to Dr S. Jelgersma.
