Abstract

We present a detailed description of the instrumentation and design of the Network of Autonomously Registrating Stations (NARS). The instrumentation of each station consists of three Teledyne Geotech SL 210/220 long period seismometers and a Kinemetrics PDR-2 digital event recorder. This off-the-shelf technology was supplemented by specially designed pre-amplifiers, response shaping tilters and time receivers which calibrate the PDR-2 clock in an automatic fashion. Expressions for the full system response are derived. and station locations are given.
