Abstract

The Late Palaeozoic to Cenozoic structural development of the southern and southeastern Norwegian offshore sector is described, based on detailed maps of Top Chalk, Base Valanginian and Base Zechstein levels. The history of the main structural elements confirms that block faulting has occurred through the Permian, Triassic and Jurassic along NW-SE, N-S and E-W trending fault systems. Shear movements occurred in the Late Jurassic and in the Late Cretaceous/Early Tertiary, mainly along the N-S and E-W trends.
