Vertical crustal movements and the rifting of continents

  • R. W. Fairbridge

Abstract

Verticalism and mobilistic philosophies in geotectonics are seen as integrally joined in modern plate tectonic theory. This theme is illustrated under two topics: lineaments and rifting (with examples from Gondwanaland); and cratonic planation-surface chronology (with an example from Western Australia).
