Inflatie in de stratigrafie?

Abstract

It is questioned whether the complete system of lithostratigraphic terms introduced in the explanation of a (beautiful) new geological map of the Netherlands, scale 1:600000 (Zagwijn & van Staalduinen, 1975) serves a useful purpose. Some definitions seem to be in defiance of the recommendations by the International subcommission on stratigraphic classification, some terms seem to be superfluous.
