The Triassic Kodiang limestone formation in Kedah, W. Malaysia
Abstract
The Triassic Kodiang Limestone Formation is formally described as a new lithostratigraphic unit in the Malay Peninsula. The thickness of the stratotype measured is more than 125 m. The carbonate sediments, consisting of algal stromatolites, intraformational breccias, limestone conglomerates with sedimentary slumps, black mudstones with radiolarian chert, and limestone turbidites, were deposited in a shelf, slope, and basinal environment. The paleoslope was dipping to the east.
