Abstract

The Archaean gneiss block of West Greenland is made up of gneisses, amphibolites and anorthositic rocks and contains the oldest crustal rocks yet known on earth. The Archaean block is bordered to the south by the Ketilidian mobile belt, largely consisting of younger granitic intrusions and to the north by the Naggsugtoqidian mobile belt which mainly consists of reworked Archaean rocks.
