Gravitational gliding in the Northern Sierra de Los Filabres (SE Spain)

Abstract

Evidence is given for rotatory movements of klippes in the northern Sierra de los Filabres. Use has been made of difference in the orientation of linear structural elements in the klippes compared with that of equivalent structures in the underlying 'basal succession'. The rotations indicate gravitational gliding, probably resulting from updoming of the mountain-range in a late stage of the orogenic history.
