The NJG Publication Award, established in 2003, recognizes outstanding contributions to the journal. The recipient is selected by the editorial team, and the award is presented by the editor-in-chief at NWO NAC (Dutch Earth and Environmental Sciences Conference).

Netherlands Journal of Geosciences publishes new and significant research in the geosciences, with a regional focus on the Netherlands, including the Dutch offshore and the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
